During consultation with a psychiatrist, he is allowed to give out prescriptions using any of the four antideppressant classifications. Of these 4 kinds, the most commonly used are tricyclic ADs. One of the generic names of these types of drugs, which are also powerful, are Anafril or Clomipramine. Of the same type of AD, there is also Norprmain, alternatively called Nortriptyline.
If a patient is diagnosed with major depression, there are the prescriptions given by the doctor. Another kind of antidepressant prescription are selective “serotonin reuptake inhibitors” or SSRIs for short. The generic names of these antidepressants are common enough; there’s Zoloft or Sertraline, Paxil or Paroxetine and Prozac or Fluoxetine. Most of these drugs are the usual medicines given by psychiatrists. Next in line are atypical drugs which come after SSRIs. This type of prescription medicine is not frequently given to patients. An example of this drug type is Wellbutrin or Bupropoin of Desyrel; it is sold in the market with the name of Trazodone.
